I’m re-listening to RHCP’s albums, re-watching their music videos, photos, and interviews, and it reminds me a lot of my experience at the HR department at Health & Help. For over 30 years, the world has been talking about a certain special “chemistry” in RHCP, how Anthony Kiedis, Flea, Chad Smith, and John Frusciante create something extraordinary when they come together on stage. I read about it and thought, “It’s cool that they can do that!” But only now I fully understand what this “chemistry” meant, when I am part of the HR department. I am lucky to work with people, each of whom is a unique individual, bringing something of their own into the process. The best part is that this effect has emerged in the online field, although I have never met any of my dear colleagues in real life. Each of us is like a member of RHCP: Anthony Kiedis, who takes the microphone and performs, or Chad Smith, the drummer who sets the rhythm, or Flea, who is famous for his wild antics. I, for example, am like John Frusciante, who left the band twice, but always returned. Perhaps, it’s because of love. Perhaps, we are all here because of love.

Soon it will be a year since I started working as a recruiter at Health & Help. Time has flown by like a dream, but I remember every detail of filling out the application and waiting for my first interview with Sasha Litkens, head of the HR department. Back then, I had no idea what it meant to work as a recruiter, and now I find myself an active employee of an international charity organization, all thanks to the attentive and caring attitude of the people who train, guide, and correct me so gently that I aspire to become better every day. First and foremost, this refers to Sasha Litkens and Masha Kun, to whom I am infinitely grateful.

Someday, all of this will inevitably come to an end, but for now, while the “chemistry” and magic continue, I am happy to be here, together with everyone else.
And as the soundtrack to this text, let it be the Red Hot Chilli Pepper’s song “Don’t Forget Me”.

If you also dream of becoming a “rockstar” in your own right, keep reading, you can learn more about our volunteer opportunities here.
