Lead Nursing Provider

Country: Guatemala
Program duration: Minimum 6 months commitment, 750 USD per month

Provide essential nursing care, guide nursing and medical volunteers, and support daily clinical operations in underserved communities. This role offers a meaningful opportunity to strengthen clinical leadership skills, support patient care continuity, and make a tangible impact in resource-limited settings.

Responsibilities

  • Direct Patient Care: Provide comprehensive nursing care, including triage, wound care, medication administration, chronic disease follow-up, maternal and child health support, and emergency stabilization. 
  • Clinical Support & Oversight: Support and supervise nursing and medical volunteers to ensure safe, ethical, and high-quality care. 
  • Volunteer Guidance: Assist in onboarding, daily supervision, and practical training of nursing and medical volunteers. 
  • Cultural Sensitivity: Work closely with local communities, adapting care plans to cultural and social contexts. 
  • Clinical Coordination: Support clinic flow, patient tracking, and continuity of care in coordination with the Lead Medical Provider. 
  • Emergency Response: Be available for urgent and emergency situations, supporting critical patient care in resource-limited environments. 
  • Training & Mentorship: Lead nursing-focused trainings, skills refreshers, and case discussions for volunteers. 
  • Program Support: Contribute to quality improvement initiatives, protocol implementation, and program development aligned with Health & Help’s mission

Skills & Requirements

  • Titled Nurse (RN) in Guatemala 
  • Minimum 2 years of clinical nursing experience, preferably in primary care, community health, or emergency settings.
  • Confidence working with chronic diseases, pediatrics, and basic reproductive health.
  • Required start date: 15 April 2025.
  • Availability for urgent and emergency situations.
  • Strong leadership, responsibility, and accountability.
  • Clear and professional communication skills.
  • Commitment to the mission and values of Health & Help.

We provide

Under a Guatemala Professional Services Contract, Health & Help provides:

  • Shared housing at the clinic – Furnished shared accommodation located on or near clinic grounds.
  • Room and board – Access to basic food supplies, depending on local availability.
  • Daily food budget – A modest daily food allowance to support meals not covered by provided supplies.
  • Work–rest balance – For every 3 weeks worked, 1 week off, allowing time for rest, travel, or personal needs.
  • Monthly stipend – Fixed monthly compensation as outlined in the contract.
  • Professional support – Clinical guidance, administrative support, and established protocols.
